Board Member Transcripts

englewood boe board member transcripts 2018 election

I am providing access to the NJSBA (New Jersey School Boards Association) transcripts of the members of the Englewood Board of Education that I obtained through OPRA (Open Public Records Act) requests.  They are available as follows:

I commend Henry Pruitt III and Molly Craig-Berry, two currently seated board members, for achieving the status of Certified Board Member through the New Jersey School Board Association, hereinafter referred to as NJSBA.  To achieve this rank, a board member has to do the following:

  1. Earn at least 20 cumulative credits
  2. Attend at least four county meetings
  3. Attend at least one annual NJSBA Workshop
  4. Attend at least one NJSBA Delegate Assembly
  5. Attend at least one statewide or regional professional development program
  6. Complete at least one term on their local board
  7. May not have been judged to have violated the School Ethics Act

When I was a board member, I should have asked the board to make member transcripts available to the public.  I didn't think of it at that time.  I now believe that it is a good idea for the Board of Education to post their transcripts on a quarterly or semi-annual basis to allow the public to stay informed of the training that each member obtains during their tenure on the board.

Why am I making this information available?  During my 2018 campaign for the Englewood Board of Education, I asserted that I am a Certified Board Member as defined by the NJSBA.  I went further and identified the seated board members who also achieved the certification.  While doing so, I clearly stated, "Don't take my word for it.  Look at the facts.  Examine the transcripts as provided by the NJSBA."

Since then, I received telephone calls asking to see the transcripts and have provided them.  I am still receiving calls asking if I would provide a copy or even allow my copy to be posted on a social media site.  In lieu of the continuing requests, I've decided to simply post them online for anyone to access and draw their own conclusions.  I am not offering any interpretations.
